As you’ve seen, we’ve really increased the amount of excellent material being presented to you via the MLP Web site, especially the blog. Before the new site design, we’d get one or two things per month. Now it’s possible to get that many new updates per day! Some folks have requested that we add a feature that notifies them whenever we post a new blog entry. They want to be sure not to miss Speculative Story Saturdays or any of our announcements or whatever. So we have indeed added this feature. We’ve got lots of ways for you to …
How did I become a writer?
Hi, this is Morgan L. Busse again. The next two weeks I will be sharing how I became a writer and part of Marcher Lord Press. This post I published in early 2011, before I got “the call.” How did I become a writer? Most authors I know begin their story with something about when they were six they knew they wanted to be a writer. Not so with me. When I was six I wanted to be a pegasus unicorn (probably explains why I write fantasy now). I never dreamed of being a writer. In high school, I loved …
Interview with Theodore Beale
Time for another installment of past interviews with Christian speculative authors over at wherethemapends.com. Please Welcome…Theodore Beale (*Originally posted December 2008) What a joy to have Christian speculative novelist Theodore Beale as our interview guest this month at WhereTheMapEnds.com. Theo is a computer game designer, technology designer, entrepreneur, political columnist, and Christian novelist. He’s a very interesting guy, as you’ll soon see. He’s an American living in Europe, where he blogs about many topics, primarily American politics, under the pen name Vox Day. He has also written nonfiction, including the recently released The Irrational Atheist. I first encountered Theo …
But Who Would Be Dumb Enough To Even Try It? (Episode 01)
At Marcher Lord Press, Saturdays are “Speculative Story Saturdays.” And this week we’re beginning our very first collaborative story project. The Marcher Lord Press authors–those who have been foolish (er, brave) enough to sign on–have embarked upon a quest to write a short Christian fantasy story together, in tag-team relay fashion. Up first is Steve Rzasa. He took his inspiration from the cover and title (both done by me), and launched us in the right direction. Steve, take us away! *** But Who Would Be Brave/Dumb Enough to Even Try it? Part One The Rancid Boar was a …

What I learned from Ray Bradbury
So far, this year is full of significance for me. First, there’s the significance that one of my all-time favorite books, A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, was finally released as a live action motion picture, with huge production values and a notable director…and yet somehow flopped at the box office. (<sigh> I happen to think that John Carter is much, much better than the revenue might indicate, but that’s fodder for another essay.) The second significance is that the author of another well-known Martian missive, and another of my all-time favorite books, The Martian Chronicles, recently left …
Fantastic Visions Friday – Michael W. Carroll
Every Friday, Marcher Lord Press salutes a Christian artist who creates amazing speculative worlds. Lovers of Christian speculative fiction do not restrict themselves to the amazing worlds depicted by talented authors. We gravitate as well to those artists who can, through their gifts of vision and art, show us worlds and beings we’ve never imagined. The artist whose gallery is linked to below ushers us to worlds of fantasy, science fiction, and pure speculative wonder. Michael W. Carroll Mike Carroll is an internationally known space and paleontological artist whose art has been featured in Time,National Geographic, and Astronomy magazines and has been aired on Nova, Cosmos, and …
Ten Random Things about John W. Otte
Hey there, everybody. My name is John W. Otte, and I’m one of Marcher Lord Press’s newest authors. I wanted to take an opportunity to introduce myself to all of you. But rather than bore you with dry, biographical data, I thought I’d do something a little different. Here are ten facts about me, the first ten things that pop into my mind: I’m tall and pretty much always have been. I’m 6′ 6″, which means that I’ve been constantly mistaken for someone who likes basketball. Unfortunately, I lack the physical coordination to play any sport worth anything. I love …
Interview with R. E. Bartlett
Here is the next installment of past interviews with Christian speculative authors over at wherethemapends.com. Please Welcome…R. E. She has written many Christian speculative novels, two of which have thus far been published: The Personifid Project (Realms) and The Personifid Invasion (Marcher Lord Press). I’ve had the honor of knowing Ruth since 2004. When I was doing the acquisitions reading for the launch of …
‘Daughter of Light’ reviewed by USAToday’s Happy Ever After
One thing I am learning is that no matter how much you market a book, sometimes your endeavors don’t pan out. And then sometimes God just drops something into your lap. That is what happened with this review by USAToday. All I can say is God did this, not me :). Go ahead, check it out and enjoy! USAToday Happy Ever After Review: “Daughter of Light’ by Morgan L.
