Hi Everyone! We are excited to have S.D. Grimm with us today, especially since her latest fantasy novel, Amber Eyes, comes out this month *squee*. So without further ado, here are Seven Questions with S.D. Grimm. 1) What is your favorite part of speculative fiction? Possibilities. There’s something majestic about watching a gryphon fly over a battle scene. Something amazing about a ship that can “make the jump to light speed.” The thought that things outside of our “normal” realm of what’s possible holds a magical quality that makes me feel like a kid experiencing wonder, and I love it. …

Enclave is Back in Business
Hey everyone! As you’ve probably realized, Enclave has been quiet for the last couple of months. Unfortunately the publisher which bought Enclave a year ago (Gilead) encountered a speed bump and had to temporarily put a hold on all publication efforts. The good news is Gilead (and Enclave) now has a new partner in publishing, which means we are back in business. Gilead is now in a cooperative venture with Kregel Publications. Gilead will remain its own entity in seeking and publishing Christian fiction, but Kregel will help in the distribution of that fiction. Enclave, as an imprint of Gilead, …

I Choose to Write Dangerously
A couple weeks ago I received a review that made me scratch my head and ask if this person had really read the same book I wrote? The review seemed far out there. But as I had time to process what this person said, along with what other people had to say, it made me realize something: I choose to write dangerously. I will never glorify evil, but I will write about it because there is real evil in this world. In a tactful way, I will write about abuse because there is abuse in this world. I will write about the dark …
Great Christian Fantasy Writers: C.S. Lewis and Beyond
By Joan Campbell On our final quest to discover the Great Christian Fantasy Writers, we creak open the door of the wardrobe and take a peak into C.S. Lewis’ remarkable books. But we also spin forward through the circle of time to where a modern generation of speculative fiction writers are breaking new ground. Irish-born Lewis—academic, apologist and author—is probably best known for The Chronicles of Narnia series. The first of the seven books (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) was published in 1950. Whereas Tolkien’s writing hinted at Christian themes, Lewis combined mythical elements with a rather distinctive …
